# SFXForge AI: royalty-free sound effects generated inside Unity, Claude, Codex and the web

SFXForge AI turns plain words into sound. Describe the sound effect your game needs, and get back a royalty-free clip in seconds. There's no subscription: you pay only for the seconds you generate.

- [Connect an AI agent](https://sfxforgeai.com/developers/)

## One sentence in. A usable clip out.

Write a prompt such as "Heavy oak door creaks open in a stone hallway", "Footsteps on wet gravel, slow walk" or "Sword drawn from sheath, metallic ring", pick a length, and generate. Every clip is a stereo MP3 or 16-bit WAV at 44.1 kHz.

## Hits that land. Loops without a seam.

- **One-shot**: trimmed to the transient with a natural tail. Built for impacts, UI, pickups and footsteps.
- **Loop**: start and end meet on a zero crossing, so the sound repeats forever without a click. Built for ambience, engines and fire. In Unity, the loop flag is set on the imported clip.

Sounds are 1 to 60 whole seconds long.

## Stop digging through sound packs. Generate the one you need.

Instead of buying a 40 GB library you'll use 1% of, describe the exact sound your scene needs, get it back in seconds inside the editor, and tweak the prompt until it's right. Every sound is made for your project and royalty-free.

## Built into Unity, not bolted on.

- **A dockable editor window**: prompts, previews and history sit next to your Inspector (Window → SFXForge AI).
- **Files in your project**: clips land as MP3 or WAV files at 44.1 kHz, ready to drop onto an AudioSource.
- **A built-in sound explorer**: search, preview and organize every sound you've generated, and drag clips between folders.

Requires Unity 6 or newer.

## Using another engine?

Use the web version: generate sounds in your browser and download them as MP3 or WAV files for Godot, Unreal, GameMaker, the web or any DAW. Same credits, same pricing.

## Let your AI agent make the sounds.

Ask your coding agent for a door creak in the dungeon level, and it generates the sound and saves it into your project.

- **Works with Claude Code and Codex**: connect the MCP server at `https://api.sfxforgeai.com/api/mcp` with an API key, and your agent can generate, find and download sounds while it builds your game.
- **Spending you control**: give each key a credit limit per 24 hours and an expiry date, and revoke it whenever you like.
- **A plain REST API too**: scripts and CI pipelines can call the same endpoints with the same key. See the [API reference](https://api.sfxforgeai.com/api/docs) and the [developer guide](https://sfxforgeai.com/developers/).

## Pricing: pay per pack, spend per second

No subscription, nothing monthly. Buy a credit pack once and spend it on the seconds you generate; bigger packs cost less per second. Generating costs 10 credits per second of audio. New accounts get 30 free seconds (300 credits) to start, no card needed. Every generated second includes a royalty-free commercial license.

## FAQ

### What counts as a generated second?

Every second of audio returned to you. A 2‑second sound uses 20 credits. Playing, re‑importing and exporting clips never counts.

### How precise is the metering?

We meter by the tenth of a second, and every 0.1 s equals 1 credit. Sounds are requested in whole seconds, and you pay for the audio actually returned, so a 2‑second footstep costs about 20 credits.

### Which Unity versions are supported?

Unity 6 and newer. Clips are standard MP3 or WAV files, which Unity imports directly.

### What audio format do I get?

You choose per sound: a compact MP3 or a lossless 16-bit WAV, both stereo at 44.1 kHz, in the Unity plugin and in the web version alike. Both cost the same.

### Is there a subscription?

No. There are no subscriptions and nothing monthly. Buy a credit pack once and spend it as you generate. When it runs out, buy another pack.

### Can I ship the sounds in a commercial game?

Yes. Every generated second includes a royalty‑free commercial license, including the 30 free seconds.

### How does it work inside Unity?

Open Window → SFXForge AI, describe a sound and generate. Clips are saved straight into your project, and the Explorer tab lets you search, preview and organize everything you’ve generated.

### Can AI agents generate sounds for me?

Yes. Create an API key in the dashboard and connect our MCP server to Claude Code, Codex or another MCP client, or call the REST API from your own scripts. Agents spend your credits at the usual price, and you can give each key a daily credit limit and an expiry date.
